Kuningan marks the end of the Galungan holiday. Celebrating the victory of Dharma over Adharma in the hindu mythology, this ritual consist to host the ancestral spirits to come on earth for 10 days.

Papa Jero, Holy man and healer of Wanagiri village in Bali, invites family members, friends and hosts to prepare Kuningan. But this time, the celebration will include the Odalan, benediction of the family temple, dedicated to his father and newly finished for the occasion.
During the whole week of Galungan, the kitchen is the stage of so many activities. A multitude of offerings and decorations are prepared.

The day of the ceremony, a Gamelan Angklung ensemble is invited to bring to this ritual, the expected spirituality.

Gamelan Angklung is one of the most popular ensemble of the island. It is generally played for hours during funerals by moreless 20 musicians. This orchestra is named after one of its instruments composed of four-tone sléndro, giving the music, the sad sweetness granted to it.

Kuningan marque la fin des vacances de Galungan. Célébrant la victoire de Dharma sur Adharma dans la mythologie Hindoue, ce rituel consiste à accueillir l'esprit des ancêtres à venir sur terre sur une période de 10 jours.

Papa Jero, l'homme saint et guérisseur du village de Wanagiri à Bali, convie sa famille, amis et hôtes à préparer Kuningan. Seulement cette fois-ci, il décida d'y célébrer par la même occasion l'Odalan, bénédiction du temple familial fraîchement terminé et dédié à son père. La cuisine fut alors prise d’assaut pendant la semaine. Une multitude d'offrandes et décorations y sont préparées.

Le jour venu, un ensemble de Gamelan Angklung est alors invité de façon à donner à ce rituel, la spiritualité escomptée.

Le Gamelan Angklung est un des ensembles les plus populaire de l’île. Il est généralement joué pendant des heures lors de cérémonies funéraires, et compte sur cet enregistrement, 22 musiciens. Cet orchestre doit son nom à l'un de ses instruments composé de 4 notes sléndro, donnant à cette musique, cette douceur triste qui lui est conférée.
