Angkor is one of the highlights of Cambodia. Situated in Siem Reap province, Angkor is one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia. Stretching over some 400 km2, including forested area, Angkor Archaeological Park contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century. They include the famous Temple of Angkor Wat and, at Angkor Thom, the Bayon Temple with its countless sculptural decorations.
Not so long ago, Angkor has been open to the public, giving the oportunity to everyone to discover the wonderful Khmer empire heritage. Cambodian people saw also in this tourist attraction, a good place to present their Khmer traditional handicrafts and music. Several bands of traditional music are playing at different spots of Angkor. In this recording, the Mohori musicians are in reduce formation, usually 5 of them compose the band. The instruments used here are the Khim (struck string instrument) and the Ehru (bow instrument).
